Ceiling Joist Layout in quality construction
Having all your rafters laid out on the top plates makes it easy to install the ceiling joist without worry of getting them set in the wrong place and having to tear them out.
In the drawing below your can see how offsetting the rafters works well for the ceiling joist. It enables the ceiling joist to lap on a interior load bearing wall. If these are to be used for attic space you are all ready to apply sheathing for the floor.
